Some Real Life Case Studies:
Way back in 1999, an organization was hiring a Manager for its office in the North East. The candidate came across in the interview as one having excellent command over the area of operation – extremely impressive to say the least. The interviewers were floored and an offer was about to be made. I had the opportunity to look at the person’s handwriting. Believe it or not, I saw lot of criminal and dishonest tendencies in the writing so much so that I was convinced that it would be a colossal mistake to hire the person. I brought this up in my assessment. The organization however still went ahead with the hire because it was hard for them to believe. Six months later the employee had to be fired because of fraud and it turned out that the employee had a major criminal record. Imagine the pain and the loss of investment that the company had to go through in this entire exercise.
In another incident the company was looking for a Sales person to handle one of its territory. While interviews were happening a dynamic looking sales person just walked in, was interviewed by multiple managers and the candidate was liked by everyone so much that it was decided to make him an offer on the spot lest he takes up another one. His analysis revealed an extremely unpredictable personality who can’t tell his right hand from his left hand. The Reliability factor was extremely low and the fears and anxieties far outweighed all the positives. The analysis was shared with the company and all these negatives were pointed out. Nevertheless the company decided to make an offer and the person joined. Exactly one month later the person left the job but not before frustrating everyone in the company with his erratic behavior. Tremendous waste of time, money and energy for everyone.
A person was being hired for a senior managerial position. There were obviously other candidates who were equally qualified and it was very difficult to choose between them. The analysis amongst other
things revealed great skills for relationship building and friendliness. He was highly recommended even though there were some negatives that the company had found out. Today he is one of the most successful managers in the company.
